In response to Great article! posted by gitaylor:This has made me feel so much better about returning to school. I have worried so much about what this is doing to the family. Now I realize that:
1. Daddy still works from home and is still there even though I'm not.
2. My kids are excited that I'm going to school. I'm studying to be a teacher and they are so happy that I ask them lots of questions about their own classes so that I can relate what they are doing to my own coursework. They know that they are a part of this too.
3. I am a valuable asset to the other students in my classes. I am about 12 years older than most of my classmates, but I have experiences to share about my own children that relate to the course topics and I have been called upon by my instructors many times to talk about my experiences.
This article has helped alleviate some of my guilt so that I can focus on the fact that in the long run, having a degree in education will be much more beneficial to my family than waiting tables.
